Catherine Ann Saulsberry was born April 1, 1952, in Montgomery, AL to James Garfield Stokes and Katie Mae White. She grew up with strong family roots and an undeniable zest of life. She grounded herself in faith and for the love of God as a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and an advocate online member of New Life and Lighthouse Community Church.
Catherine attended Harper High where she was introduced to her high school sweetheart Michael Anthony Saulsberry and they were united in holy matrimony on June 26, 1971. To this union a child was born- one daughter Charisse Lavae.
Catherine passion for helping others prompt her to pursue a career in healthcare. She dedicated years as a Patient Care Assistant at IHS Rehabilitation Center. She provided compassionate home health care for her loved ones and close family friends. She was known to take on the responsibility of raising other kids besides her own and she absolutely loved it.
Catherine aka Catfish(bones), marched by the beat of her own drums. She didn’t have a problem with telling you like it is because she didn’t hold her tough for no one.
Catherine was the life of the party with her dancing and singing some of her blues’ favorites (Sidepiece and Mister Sexy Man). She loved to cook, and she was passionate about exploring countless recipes and turning every meal into a culinary masterpiece. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her bigheaded daughter Charisse(Reese) grandchildren, Johnel(her baby)-Valencia(her second momma)-Olivia (her best friend)Her GG Girls Dior Renee and Ocean Lavae-Her siblings Ruthie Lee( Big Kahuna) Mary Elizabeth(Momeyo) Timothy ( made up middle name Flowers aka baby brother) – her cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
